A man on the phone looking distressed after a car accident, with a woman standing near another vehicle in the background

Our client was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in Las Vegas that was far from routine. While driving down Desert Inn Road, another vehicle sped past him, lost control, and violently slammed into his car. The impact was severe. Our client’s vehicle was pushed into the center retaining wall, causing significant property damage and multiple physical injuries. The at-fault driver fled the scene, making this a hit-and-run accident.

Fortunately, our client was driving a Tesla equipped with active camera systems. The footage clearly showed the other vehicle striking our client’s car. However, despite having video evidence of the crash itself, the license plate of the fleeing vehicle was not captured.

Because the driver could not be identified, we pursued compensation through our client’s uninsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage under his own auto insurance policy. Our client sustained multiple injuries, including a shoulder injury, knee injury, neck injury, and back injury. We carefully compiled and presented detailed medical records and billing documentation to his insurance carrier in support of the uninsured motorist claim.

By clearly demonstrating the severity of the injuries and the crash’s financial impact, we successfully negotiated a favorable resolution. We secured a $450,000 settlement that covered our client’s medical expenses and provided additional compensation for pain and suffering.

This case serves as an important reminder of the value of carrying uninsured/underinsured motorist (UIM) coverage. In hit-and-run accidents, UM/UIM coverage can be the only path to financial recovery.
